    Buzzed!

My sons, Noah and Davis, have ridiculously gorgeous hair.  It's beyond thick, this great dark brown color with natural highlights and  it grows unbelievably fast.  Because they're extremely active when the weather gets warmer, I've always thought that buzz cuts during the summer months were practical (and adorable).  Here are some before and after photos.  The after photos were taken with my phone, that's why they aren't as clear...

Doesn't Davis look like he's smoking a cigarette in the last picture?  It's a lollipop.

What are YOU up to this summer?

    Hair by Cole Briddle

Today, for the first time, I had an in home hair appointment.

My colorist, Patti, does a fantastic job with my highlights but I've been looking for the perfect cut for a while.  In any event, today I was lucky enough to secure a session with Cole Briddle who comes to my town from Chicago every six weeks to "refresh" his clients' hair.

I am very impressed with his work.  He cut my hair dry (which I prefer), and made sure to explain what he was doing and why he was doing it.  Of course, we had to snap a few photos.  What do you think?

You can really tell what I mean by "the perfect cut" in the last photo.  I don't think I've ever had such a precise haircut.

    Have a great weekend!!!

    Juan

    written for Juan G.

    his hands:
    raise a child
    craft a story
    pull me closer
    push me back

    his smile:
    an ivory gate
    protecting
    the soft center
    of stone secrets

    his words:
    have such strength.
    rhetorical reps, syllable sets
    my mind aches
    with recollection

    my attempts:
    to hold his hands
    that pray and punish
    to see his teeth
    bared and bright

    questions between us:
    hide like scared children.
    Only our souls
    speak
    the same language
